IDK what everyone is talking about. Personally, I LOVE the coat texture and overall feel of the drawing. You may think you murdered it, but I think it gives it a wonderful character all it's own. I do wonder how you got the dimension into the hair though. the specks of white in the hair are very fine, and so I have to ask, is that all technique, and a steady hand? or did you use a white pen or something? Because I find when drawing with graphite, I lose alot of my highlights, or that they end up so much larger and sloppier than I wish. (that's probably why I usually draw with a dip pen and ink... finer point makes for easy detail, and less smears if you're good at knowing how to draw to avoid the ink while it's wet. that and I've always been one for hatching techniques.) either way, very curious as to the method of which you used to create the vast array of textures. in this piece specifically. If you find the time, I would love to hear back from you!

thanks so much! :aww: I just am really careful I don't make marks where I don't want them. You can pick some up with a kneaded eraser to help brighten it back up sometimes. For the very fine ends you can even sometimes carefully take an x-acto knife just be careful you don't tear the paper. For skin tone tissue paper is cool. But yeah. Mostly just 7B pencils for the really dark stuff. It's just careful application of contrast. Keep a smooth paper under your hand so you don't smudge anything and blow the paper off every now and then. But yeah mostly just lots of practice! You'll get it. :)

I've been doing this kind of artwork in my artroom, everything looks great except for the texture of the coat. How did you do that?

It took forever. It was just done slowly and carefully with a 7B pencil. :)
